Project Description

Maree Jesson

A three time world Ironman finalist in Kona, Maree has completed the Comrades, and Marathon des Sables. As an accomplished soft-tissue therapist and coach she is a vital part of Performance Team.

After qualifying as a Soft Tissue Therapist in 2006, Maree has been working with a diverse range of clients. These range from those that do sport as an interest, to elite athletes in sports such as Triathlon, Swimming, Cycling, Cricket, Football, Rugby, Athletics, Tennis and Netball. Her clients are not all limited to sports and Maree has a number of clients that utilise Soft Tissue Therapy to improve posture and pain caused by everyday work life. Working alongside the physio team at Witty, Pask and Buckingham means she is well able to work in a team for the client.

As part of her development, she has been mentored by a number of established sports medical professionals, including Clinic Director, Mark Buckingham. Maree spends a number of days throughout the year observing other sports medical specialists.

Outside of clinic, Maree also enjoys competing in extreme sports events.

Having been running all her life, Maree is never happier than when she is outdoors on the trails, road or track.  She began as a sprinter and moved up through the distances to ultra-marathon and other endurance sports.

A marathon runner at heart, she achieved her dream of running a sub 3 marathon in 2010.  Since then Maree has discovered multisport and has represented Great Britain in age group teams in both Duathlon & Triathlon.  With her love of endurance, the next step was Ironman triathlon.  In 2013 she won her age group at the Ironman UK, Bolton and qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Maree loves getting out on her bicycle and cycled from London to Paris in 25 hours.  Earlier this year she also cycled through the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast in 5 days.

When not swimming, biking or running her passion is coaching and helping others to achieve their dreams.  Whether this is getting someone to run their first 5k, marathon, trail run or complete a triathlon “the buzz of helping others is truly amazing”.  Maree support all levels from Olympic and World Cross Country athletes’ and beyond.  In addition to her therapist work, she is devoted to Yoga and Pilates, and an avid researcher into preventative and rehabilitation methods for both the mind and body
