Nutrition

I  am currently a Senior Performance Nutritionist and Technical Lead for the English Institute of Sport (EIS), having been with the EIS for the past three Olympic cycles including Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro.

In addition, I have worked as a Performance Nutrition Scientist for ORRECO, a global company specialising in data analytics, biomarker analysis and recovery solutions for Olympic athletes and professional teams.

I have worked with a variety of sports and athletes over the years, including World, Olympic and European medallists across a spectrum of Olympic sports; Track and Field, Modern Pentathlon, Swimming, Rowing, Cycling and Sailing.

Outside Olympic sports I have consulted with professional footballers, golfers and tennis players.

My education background consists of a BSc in Human Nutrition and State Registration in Dietetics, an MSc in Sports Nutrition from the University of Aberdeen and a PhD in Nutrition and exercise physiology from the University of Surrey.

My research to date has focused on oxidative stress in elite endurance athletes, unexplained underperformance syndrome (overtraining syndrome), and nutritional biomarkers.

I have published in peer reviewed Sports Medicine and Science Journals, presented at international sports science and medicine conferences as well as collaborating on various book chapters in the field of sports nutrition and exercise science.

Prior to working in elite sport I worked clinically specialising in the nutritional support of trauma and surgical patients in intensive care units.
